Need to see pics of a 64 300 Chrysler with console and four speed. Saw one, and the shifter was to the left of the console, but had a boot on the floor hump. Anyone have a pic or two, or any info on this setup? Should shift lever come through the console?

IIRC There was car in Mopar Collector's Guide not too long ago that was like that. Don't remember the issue, sometime last year

Looks like it was December 2008

http://www.moparcollectorsguide.com/dec2008.html

I am pretty sure it was a 4 speed but I don't have access to the article at the moment

Will this work for you? Original 4-speed car.

Thanks! Just looked at that issue, and it shows shifter through the console. The car I looked at had shifter to the left of the console and looked VERY stock. This car has been sitting for years.

Apologies, I have learned the car I mentioned is a converted automatic equipped with a Keisler 5 speed. 300K 4 speeds = very rare

Just read the same thing. Thanks for the lead on that, every bit helps. Car that I saw is a 413 4bbl, and 4spd. Shifter styled like a b-body - flat curved back towards top, white knob. floor hump has carpet and boot w/ring next to the console.

That's a Moparts members car. It's really cool.

That 1960 300 should have a Pont A Musson sp? 4spd trans. The 64 might have an A833. I bet the shifters are different from 1960 to 1964

Google search: 1964 chrysler 300K 4 speed.

Yeah, It isn't a A833 or any other mopar tranny.

Growing up a guy up the street had a 63 New Yorker, 383. So I have a soft spot for those cars. Interior was like a living room! The car was "one of these days, I'm gonna restore it" but that never happened...

BTW his neighbor ( a friend) HATED that car. He said he was "the only kid in the world that had a 1963 Chrysler for an alarm clock"

Strange as it may seem, a factory 4-speed console car has the shifter outside the console. But only on the full size car. B-bodies used a bent shifter to get it through the console. Why they didn't do that on the 300 is a mystery to me.

The '60 300F had the shifter coming through the console but as mentioned above, it is a French transmission.

Yah, I know. I'm late to the party. But I just saw the pic and thought of this thread.

Cool pictures.

I was driving across France a few months ago and ... all of sudden we were in Pont a Mousson. Even the French guys didn't know the significance related to Chrysler but they did know there were a lot gearboxes of various sorts produced there.

That's a three speed, for what it's worth.
