What if females don't find them attractive ... that's 2 billion extra mosquitos to such the blood out of people until they die off !! Only the women mosquitos are blood suckers. Aside from that I still don't see how this turns out good...
I am not causing global warming, I am just trying to hold off a impending Ice Age!

Still haven’t heard the reason for doing this, what did I miss? Did you read the quote in the OP's post? the reason is listed there. this new 2 billion should produce larvae that die off before they reach adulthood. This is thanks to the self-limiting gene that Oxitec has created. If they die off as larvae they don't reproduce. Female mosquitos mate once then lay their broods. If the mate with one of these altered males they don't create the next generation of skeeters to carry on the species.
