I have a 727 that has been on the shelf for a few years. All worked when put up . Tried to slide the converter off the other day and it won’t. Spins , ricks side to side a bit but won’t come off . Fashioned a pul to tug it against and away from the bell but didn’t pop like I thought it might . Didnt go gorilla on it . Any thoughts or experience with this issue.
Thanks

Turn the trans with the tail up, lift it by the tail and drop it on a flat hard surface. If that doesn't work, time to go gorilla, bolt a loose chain between two opposite drive bolts and use a heavy bar to shock it out. The converter hub is probably rusted into the inner pump gear.

I guess it doesn’t matter much but do you think any of this will damage the converter or transmission?

most likely as said rust in the pump, which is from condensation threw the vent in the pump. After you get the converter out at a minimum the pump needs to come out and be cleaned and inspected. Depends how it looks, if the pump has rust in it, then I would want to inspect the clutch discs, moisture can make the linining flake off.

If is stuck you can expect that there is damage. That's why it is stuck.
