I have a 1969 Dart GTS H code 4 speed car that had an SPD of 10-23 or 24 1968. I've owned this car several times and I'm wondering how many of those H code Darts GTS Dodge made? Also, how many 727 versus how many 4 speeds Any suggestions were to look to find out accurate information on this? Thanks in advance: bow: Cab

I find that pretty surprising that there were more M-Code 440 Dart GTS's made than 383 H-Code automatics ........ there weren't - the numbers are closer to 725-ish 383 automatics & 400-ish 440 automatics anyone know where the first 640 built "M-code" GTS number appeared?

GG's "white book" shows data on 88.4% of production
1969 Dart GTS 1,912 total with big block of these: * 784 with 383HP & 4-speed * 488 with 383HP & automatic & * 640 with 440HP & automatic
there has been some discussion that the 383 VS. 440 automatic numbers are not accurate I find that pretty surprising that there were more M-Code 440 Dart GTS's made than 383 H-Code automatics Especially when I went into my local Dodge dealership to pick up a brochure on the Dart GTS 383 727 Automatic that I was getting ready to order in the spring of 1969. I had read every magazine article I could find on the Dart GTS 383 up to that point and then spotted a sidebar story on how there was going to be a release of a Dart GTS with the 440 engine. Went back to the local dealer and no one knew anything about the 440 and on top pf that I got laughed out of the dealer ship by one and then both of the sales guys for even asking such a "stupid" question about the 440 "In a Dart". More to this but I was a little embarrassed, make that P!$$eD so I went to the Plymouth dealer, sat down with my co-signing dad and ORDERED a '69 Road Runner There just had to be a lot more Dart GTS 383 auto's built and sold than 488. As some know I finally got my '69 Dart GTS 440 M-Code and still have it......in GREEN of course. The 440 cars came right out of the 383 numbers as they started life as a 383 car. If the 440 Darts were not made then the 383 automatic number would be 1,128. All M-Code GTS's have E63 on the fender tag which is 383 4-bbl...

Per the GTS Registry this was the first M-Code built: LS23M9B2241**: GTS#160: This is the FIRST "M" CODE PRODUCED!!! Vehicle Order Number (VON) is 900900!!!! WOW! This is as the "M" GTS looks now! Originally equipped as a B5 Bright Blue Metallic and a V1X black vinyl top and V8X black bumble bee stripe. About the only option on it was the remote control mirror! This 440 was built for racing, and here's a picture of it circa 1978 running 11.2's at 118mph! This was purchased at Mr. Norm's Grand Spaulding Dodge and retains the number matching 440!

Did the '69 M-Code Dart GTS (and Cuda) fender tags also have the A13 code stamped on the fender tags? Either A13, Y39, or both. I have seen some with just the A39, some with just the A13, and some with both to make myself crystal clear...

Did the '69 M-Code Dart GTS (and Cuda) fender tags also have the A13 code stamped on the fender tags? My GTS was built January 14/69 and only has Y39 on the tag. No A13.

I guess I didn't word that too well when did the "640" number first appear? - it is NOT in the 1969 DART OPTION & ACCESSORY REPORT Vehicle Order Number 900900 would be the first "ordered" not necessarily the first "built"

Also the 69 440 Cuda has a number of 360, so that makes 1,000 M-Codes built in 69, also came from GG. Nobody else has even tried to figure out the true number, get on it Dan!

the 1969 Dart OPTION & ACCESSORY REPORT I have a copy of is for US shipped cars prior to 8/ ??/69 and accounts for 88.4% of the model year's DART GTS hardtop (LS23) production cars not included would be cars shipped to CANADA or overseas & cars still sitting on assembly plant holding lots waiting to find a shipping date/dealer/customer/etc., this totals 728 units (a number of these cars were surely 440 Darts) all 440 automatic Dart GTS cars started life as a 383 automatic GTS hardtop & included a 3.55:1 or 3.91:1 rear axle ratio with a mandatory (extra cost) sure-grip differential per the above mentioned report, the maximum number of 440 GTS Darts possible would be 489 units - IF there were ZERO 383 automatic cars with a sure-grip differential and 3.55:1 or 3.91:1 rear gears the actual number would be lower 10% - 20% lower would be 391 to 440 units ???

with that solved - NOT - I took a look at the Barracudas the 1969 Barracuda OPTION & ACCESSORY REPORT I have a copy of is for US shipped cars prior to 8/ ??/69 and accounts for 80.7% of the model year's BARRACUDA coupe (BH23) & fastback (BH29) production cars not included would be cars shipped to CANADA or overseas & cars still sitting on assembly plant holding lots waiting to find a shipping date/dealer/customer/etc., this totals 5,595 units (a number of these cars were surely 440 'cudas) an issue that quickly arose: the 440 'cuda was an OPTION on the OPTIONAL 383 'cuda that was an OPTION on the base BH "Barracuda" & there are 383 Barracuda Formula S cars all 440 automatic 'cudas started life as a 383 automatic 'cuda coupes or fastbacks & included a 3.55:1 or 3.91:1 rear axle ratio with a mandatory (extra cost) sure-grip differential per the above mentioned report, the maximum number of 440 'cudas possible would be 309 units - IF there were ZERO 383 automatic 'cudas built the actual number would be lower 40% - 50% lower would be 155 to 185 units ??? & at those numbers the 383 automatic 'cudas would be "RARER"

Did you compile those charts, I have never seen anything like that before?!?

Is there a breakdown of gear ratios with 4 speeds ?
