I had a 68 XR7 my old man had a 67. I like those two years, the rest got ugly fast.

The sequential lights were for turn signals, the brake lights lit them all up. They were a real pita when they didn't function correctly. The sequential turn lights mostly went away when they quite functioning correctly, which was very long into the car's life. I also think they went away when the original body grew bigger.

Friend of mine is doing a resto on a 71 Cougar with a 429 SCJ, PW, and a sunroof. The owner is into unicorns. Also has a Buick GSX. Convertible.

My first thought was a Montego, but you guys re right it's a Cougar.

Gene, remember the sequential tail lights in the 69 imperial ? they were a royal pain as well, and cleaning the points setup in the box was just as bad.
i finally gave up, yanked the box, and converted the lights to normal function.

FWIW, there was no SCJ in 1971 Cougars, and there was no GSX available in a ragtop.

Top car is a 73 Mustang Mach 1,middle car is a 73 Mercury Cougar, bottom car is a 73 Mustang convertible.

With that stripe on the Mach I, they're 1971-72 cars.

Pink Floyd "Money" was released in early '73 so that footage was probably from the '71/'72 era

1968 Cougar GTE could be had with a 390hp 427. The only Fomoco ponycar meant for the public with a factory installed 427, Mustangs didn't even get them. They're pretty rare, but I think those are the neatest Cougar.
