I have a bunch of NOS Transmission parts, all from the 60's. This one has me stumped. Part number just says 97754 on it in marker. Thanks for any help.

Judging by the sprocket, it's from a chain-driven transfer case. shruggy

I was thinking the same but how do you get hi/lo range with a solid main shaft?

Might be more of a "cluster gear" type shaft for the transfer case rather that an in/out shaft shruggy

This is a big help! Thank you. I have like (5) of these and all of this.. (see pic) lol.. Its all transmission and I think pertains to these NP230, 420 , 540 transmissions. What were these used in? Power Wagons? or the earlier version?

That's a lot of parts. This catalog might come in handy:

The NP420 was Dodge's bread and butter 4-spd for years. Second was the NP435. I have no experience with the NP540 or NP230.

The 540 series is a 5 speed and more commonly found in mid size HD trucks.

thanks for the correction. up
over the years i have used the stubby small block 727's output shaft and parts to swap over to big block cases to be used in big block swaps in those 4x4's.
it sure is a LOT easier to toss around a transmission from a divorced transfer case than it is to toss one with the transfer case attached !
of course these days, i can't toss around much of anything.............. laugh2

203 was the full time chain driven case from the 70s. 205 was part time gear driven case.

I didn't think that was a chain sprocket on that shaft but splines for a synchronizer.
