I always thought those sold like over 100k/year
I’m thinking the whole American pony car segment is taking a hit.
Wonder what the totals are from 1980 to now for: Mustang, Camaro (when offered), Firebird (when offered) and Challenger (when offered) combined are?

New Camaro sightings in traffic seem to be low in the last two or three years so maybe they really are in a sales slump. I have not sat in one, but they look like they'd be hard to see out of??? Visibility is not great. I drove a few. I liked them, but definitely hard to see out of.

Agreed. Unless I had the top down on the convert I rented, it was really bad. The big mirror on the windshield wasn't great for the front too. Just for curiosity, here are Charger sales (US only) Year sold 2005 44,804 2006 114,201 2007 119,289 2008 97,367 2009 60,651 2010 75,397 2011 70,089 2012 89,916 2013 98,336 2014 94,099 2015 94,725 2016 97,110 2017 88,351 2018 80,226 2019 96,936 2020 77,426 2021 78,388

Ford has gone in the wrong direction with the Mustang and pissed off a LOT of enthusiasts by naming that stupid box-turd a Mustang. Like, worse than when Dodge hung the Charger nameplate on a 4-door taxi cab.
Not only that, but whereas the 2015-2016 era was revolutionary and a step UP from the previous models.... the late model stuff is no better than what done come before it and in several cases.... worse. They changed the shift forks from steel to aluminum and transmission failure rates went up. There was a big problem with the early 24-injector motors where the programming had issue where it'd stay in direct injection mode during low rpm situations, or remain in port injection mode for high rpm situations. Granted, it was caught early and fixed with a programming update, but still....
Then, load on top of that all the junk tech they've been loading the car with. Granted, some is cool but some is just pointless and/or frivolous. Not to mention with the addition of crap, plus inflation.... you can't get a V8 Mustang for under 50k anymore. Way to alienate your market base, Ford.
I think I bought mine at exactly the right time. Scary thing is; for a 5-6 year old car, I could almost sell it today for what I paid for it. There seems to be an affinity for the earlier models with their transmissions that don't break and their engines that don't cook pistons or coke up valves. I don't think I've owned anything that held it's value like this car has been.

Even though the classic mopar guys view the newer Challenger as too big It really is a great looking car. For being built on the big Cadillac platform they did a great job. I see younger guys and gals who probably don't even care for 1970s muscle cars driving newer Challengers. Non car enthusiasts tend to be attracted to the Challenger. That's a great accomplishment and great for business to draw in NON die hard old school customers. (Harley Davidson trying to accomplish this.) But what's the future for Challenger and Charger- turbo V6s and all electric?
Keep old mopars alive.

Actually most used cars are holding nearly all their value right now, insanity in the used car market because of the junk that isn't hardly available new if you did want one.

that's called inflation - it's the $ loosing value faster than the car is depreciating
