There have been times when I have said to someone "You know, I studied Greek for 4 years and I still have no idea what you just said."

Close enough I guess.

Very interesting up

On a similar note, I never realized how many words we frequently use are yiddish. Just a few examples I found that I've heard and I'm not even Jewish.

glitch - malfunction.

klutz - uncoordinated; clumsy person

Schmutz - dust, dirt, tomato sauce mess on your shirt

Schmooze - kiss butt

Spiel - a spiel is a lengthy speech or story, primarily used as a means of persuasion

Shtick - referring to an actor or performer of some sort, a shtick is a particular routine or gimmick associated with that person

Tuches - butt

Facts are stubborn things.

I was fortunate to catch Kinison's debut at the Comedy Store back in my Hollywood days (and daze)...
He'd started working there as a doorman and a buddy said "hey we gotta go see this guy, he's hysterical and they're giving him a chance".
As God is my witness, it was the hardest I've ever laughed; at one point I couldn't breathe and had slid under the table, and I was sober.
The place was berserk, as he'd of course viscerally articulated raging at stupidity or crappy circumstance.
George Carlin, by comparison, was almost restrained and scholarly...

Kinison was a madman, will we really ever know how he died? work
