So my friends parents just got this 57 Dodge 2 door station wagon. He asked me if I can post it over on here to try and get more eyes out there. The side molding clips for the car have seen better days with the salt and weather in NJ and have pretty much eaten away at the clips. Does anyone know who might have these style clips? They screw into the body and are not the typical spring clip that slides loose through the molding. I tried checking out Restoration Specialties catalog and I did not see anything like this there. Is there anyone else who might have clips like this ? Appreciate the help for a fellow Mopar brother !

I get so many clip and fastener calls a day. Problem is, like these clips, they require steel tooling/molds. Even having them done in Asia costs real $. Then MOQ's (min order quanties) usually START at 10,000pcs. Could be $2-3,000 min to make that clip and then yiou'd have more than a lifetime supply.. Thats why so many clips aren't reproduced. Doubt there will be any technology in our lifetimes like 3D printing that will make it any more cost effective.

Wonder if someone at the Forward Look site would have an alternative, or maybe a parts car ?

Love the wagons of that era - Mom & Dad had a '57 Sport Suburban - especially the 2-doors.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I checked out the RMJ catalog and didn't see anything close. I think he contacted Dave already at Restoration Specialties and they did not have anything like that either. Seems like a lot of the stuff from the Forward Look Era hasn't been repro'd. Shame too since they were such cool looking cars !

the next thing to look at, would be to think about gluing spacers of the appropriate shape and thickness, which would have to be made of ???, to the molding, or attach to the body, and try 3m tape.
unless, of course, you could try a completely different type of clip that fit the molding and attached to the body in the same manner as the original.
this may take some time at a good auto body supply company, or using someone's creative imagination.
there is a solution out there for this trim. it just has to be found.

If he ( or you ) is on Facebook, there's multiple pages for the Dodge and Forward look cars.

If all else fails, he can sell me the wagon wink

If you need links to the pages, lemmee know

He found a company that makes a similar clip over seas. Seems that its the same as a Triumph clip. Thanks everyone for the help and info.
