gotta 383 in my road runner, its a stock short block, but the heads are off and i got a good deal on a set of 906 heads, 2.14 and 1.88 valves i think he said, mildly ported, probably just cleaned them up, and milled .060 i was wondering what compression i would be at with these heads and the stock pistons? right now the motor also has a cast intake and carter carb, but that will be going away for a performer rpm and 750 holley. the car is also an automatic with 3.55's i was also wondering what cam i should use? i want something street friendly, i was offered a 509 purple shaft at a decent price but i turned it down because i though it might be to aggressive.
any help would be great, thanks.

you would probably be at a true comp ratio for 9.5 to one. use a steel head gasket for assembly. i wouldnt use a 509 cam i would go with a comp xe 268 or 274.

anyone using a lunati vooodoo cam? it said it was a 268 cam, 226/234@ .50 .494"/.513 110 lsa 106 icl operating range 1800-6200rpm.

what tq converter should i be using with a 268 cam? would 2200 be sufficient or would i have to run something in the 2400 range?

Dare to be different and get a Mr. 6Pack camshaft. That cam is a huge improvement in street engines when compared to the .484 & .509 Purple Shafts. The designer of the Mr. 6Pack cam knows this first hand as he tested most of the old Purple Shaft cams for Chrysler during the Direct Connection era.

Read more HERE.

Also, stock 383 Road Runner torque converters are listed as having a stall speed of around 2400-2600rpm.
