I would like to here from you 67 B body owners on this bolt pictured here. The head is marked as a grade 8 bolt and is larger than a normal head on a 3/8 bolt. If you car is original please chime in here.

Thanks
Dan

Yes, the hex is 3/4.
The reason I ask is my dads original 67 Hemi GTX has the large headed bolt. The engine was out of the car back in 1974, and I was not sure if that bolt was correct. He felt sure it was, I questioned it because I don't recall seeing it on any other car. Yesterday I was digging through boxes of bolts from a bunch of 67 cars I parted out and ran across the same bolt. It sticks out like a sore thumb once you see one.

Guess I should know better than question my dad .

Thanks
Dan

Yes they do look strange when on the car, not sure what other engines and years had them, but I have seen many in 67 GTX cars.

My 67 440 has that large headed bolt, but I thought it was designed to go in the bottom hole, where the adjustment slot is?? Makes sense to me that the larger head has more surface for the adjustment slot area? Am I wrong?? If so I need to change it..

Well that makes sense, but I don't know. I can only say that on the one I have seen, it is on the top. I hope some other people can comment on this.

Thanks
Dan
