Buy new before you kill someone with old tires. You know this. If the trailer tires are more than 4 years old replace them. It's just a question of when they will fail at that point.

I use tire covers on my car trailer and it seems to help some. Trailer tires seem to start cracking from day one. Rubber quality has went down hill for sure.

I simply don't like having to change out a blown out trailer tire on the side of the Interstate highway when people are flying by at 80+ mph. At the 4 year point they start separating and failing. I guess I figure my life is worth more than $300 to $400 for tires every 4 years. That's not even taking into account what could happen if it causes a serious accident. You're in the wrong hobby if you think spending $75 a year is too much to be safe out on the road.

Covering your tires so the sun doesn't hit them is one of the best things you can do. The sun does decay tires. There really no actual natural rubber in tires anymore, they're made from petroleum by-products these days. The suns UV rays destroy them, you know just like it does to plastic. Treating them with something that protects against UV rays will help. I use a pair of old steel exterior house doors leaned up against my trailer to keep the sun off the tires when it's parked, which is more than it's actually used.

If they are "trailer" tires and are over 3 yrs. old replace them now, not along the road when they fail due to old age If I could buy "light truck 8 or 10 ply tires " I would buy them instead of those dang "trailer" tires I can't count or remember how many trailer tires I've had fail on the road Did I mention I HATE "trailer" tires

I had some China made tires on my daily driver and they were cracking in less than a year. Seems to me rubber quality is a issue. I bought a 410 Dana 70 in Pennsylvania some years back for my Disco motor homey project that had NYLON tires on it from the mid 70s...... they gave old new meaning.... way more than that old from oreEgone ! Those tires were in PERFECT CONDITION ! Absolutely no UV damage anywhere But as that ole tart can confirm .... those yestertech tires give ruff riding new meaning ! Roger dodger... they build these tires these days to self destruct

His take on this? There are no trailer tires worth a [censored] available anywhere from anyone. Period.
