No gas, no oil change, no filters...hard to not consider. Not for everyone but on my list once my Cadillac-level daycare payments are over.

I think the Rivian trucks will be popular with urban businesses that do light duty deliveries. If your customer base is within a 25 or 30 miles radius, maybe it makes sense to plug it in at night next to your electric forklift. I dont want one - but for some, they might make sense.

Haven't I been reading in several places that shortly the power grid won't support EV's? Where's 360view? He's probably up on this stuff. Tim

EV-s are not for me but id not dog anyone who buys one. One way or another this whole EV experiment will go on and to me better to have some more informed in the mix vs a soccer mom who can only understand she needs to plug it in.
Clearly this has been in the works for a long time if all these makers are ready to produce and sell, so let it run and see how it goes. Not that I like it one bit but I just live in this current mess vs control it.

The power grid ? .. interesting!!
JUST HOW would that work in apartment living unless there was a massive investment I wouldn't recommend an EV to anyone who lives in an apartment. You really need a garage so you can plug the car in overnight and charge it. I use 110v to charge the Leaf but for a bigger car you need a 240v charger. The new houses that they are building around here all have 240 volt, 50 amp outlets in the garages for charging an EV. Older houses usually need some electrical work to pull a 50 amp circuit. Depending on how old the house is that can be easy or difficult.

A good home charging station is 240 volt, 50 amps. Basically the same plug that you have in the house for a dryer or an oven so not a complicated deal. Just depends where the electrical panel is and how many open circuits there are. In a condo building my guess is that the contractor cut the design right to the bone in order to maximize his paycheck. It would get expensive if they had to pull in another service just for the charging stations. The meaning of my Q was ... is to ball park the cost of operations on each charging station for an apartment complex and to blend that into the monthly lease or COA fees..... HOW you could possibly AT A REASONABLE COST... hook each station into the individual apartment unit would be a HORROR SHOW

7 "Part of the funding is reserved for building more EV infrastructure in rural, lower income, and underserved areas. EV's generally are not cheap. Putting infrastructure in areas where folks can't afford an EV? Interesting.
