I'm not talking about anything political, I'm talking about car stuff. I am pretty frequent on the swap meet here, FABO, FBBO, and of course Searchtempest and Facebook marketplace and wow. The stashes sure seem to be drying up. I have run across some pretty good deals from time to time, but the landscape is pretty barren. Even good cars seem to be fewer. I have been looking around for something to put my completed 340 in while my Dart is in the body shop and I was surprised. Even cheap A-bodies don't seem to exist anymore unless there is a reason they are cheap. I remember what seemed like months ago I could find a '73 and up Duster or a running 318 Scamp for under $1000 that was decent. But even a Scamp is high and they get NO love!
Not really a rant or a complaint. Just really surprising.

Scamps get NO love? What about later B-bodies, F, M and J bodies? It seems like last week you couldn't find one of those above $1000. Now......... eek

Parts in general seem to be disappearing quickly too. scope nervous

I believe the parts are still there, it's just the prices are in the stratosphere. Now I am NOT bashing sellers, they can set the price wherever they want but when I see a used tach on eBay go for nearly $1500.... shruggy

I'm with you on that. I sold my Mirada a few years ago and haven't been able to find a suitable replacement for what I paid for it. I love Miradas. I actually had F,M,J bodies mentioned while I was typing but took it out.

I think some older hoarders are starting to let things go, and you are right. Big money. I also agree they can ask it, I get more annoyed by people convinced that whining about the high prices will miraculously see the error of their ways and lower the price.

I bought my car done. So I haven't paid really close attention the parts market persay. But I do keep an eye out for the misc wear parts that fits my car . One just has to be patient and reasonable deals do come along.

BUT with car prices like they are ,,,,its only natural parts are priced accordingly . Well,,,,Just because they can .

BUT , the supply chain right now for A LOT of items , ( furniture for example ) is hideous.
Wife and I were looking to buy a new living room furniture set and seems like everyone we pick out is out of stock with a 2 to 6 month back order

You did it right, then. I have found a deal or two, and did have the money to jump on one. It's getting some surgery now, but a 340 in it just doesn't seem right. I've got the hankering for a cheap a-body for nostalgia sake, but they just don't exist right now. Lol.

I don't really follow them, so I don't know what they go for now and can't compare it to when I was looking for one previously.

"BUT , the supply chain right now for A LOT of items , ( furniture for example ) is hideous.

my one acquaintance owns a furniture store, and for some reason he sensed this coming, and went out on a limb buying and ordering everything he could.
he figured he would either go broke, or be the only furniture store around that would have product to sell.
boy, did he guess right ! he has items stuffed in warehouses across three counties, and his slogan for many months now has been : "Shop here, get it TODAY !"
he told me a couple of weeks ago his orders made then had shipping dates of september of next year. he has been steadily reordering everything he sells, and thanks to his foresight, buying up everything he could, then reordering before anything sells, he has a steady supply of product coming in daily.

as for the guys with "stuff" [me biggrin] i have been dumping "my stash" over the last several years by not bringing [much of] anything home from the swaps, and giving "stuff" away to a few friends that will use it up.
however, i still have a pile growing i need to get pics of to list in various places, but for some reason, i seem to keep putting that off.

and then there is the "i wonder what i could use THAT for" syndrome i have. that results in a material "stash" that can get out of hand very quickly. but now, with steel and aluminum prices through the roof, that "stash" has been a life saver. er, i mean, project saver. whistling

Well, A few sales Im aware of.

A local 1964 Dart hardtop popped up around here this past spring. A VERY nice car. for $20k, car sold in less than a month ( stayed local )

Another was a 63 or 64 Dart Conv , slant six auto , I was giving some serious thoughts to in San Diego was listed for $9k for a solid running driving car . It sold in under a week ( thankfully ,,,, I really dont need another car )

I still have a couple hundred thousand parts laying around, and a few project cars but nothing ready to throw a moder in. I recently bought a couple large stashes of parts, people are getting to the point of clearing out in the last couple of years. I will sell my entire collection for a quarter mil, that's $1.00 a part...LOL

I've got my pile of parts. Thought about getting a space at Fall Fling, but I didn't feel like going through the hassle of loading the parts up, laying them out, and then loading them up again. I sold a few parts at our local Mopar show in September. I may get things more organized when the new garage is finished.

It doesn't sound like you'll have those couple hundred thousand parts laying around for long!

Another reason that parts availability is drying up is the people with supplies of parts are getting older and passing on. The family then sends everything to scrap and all those parts are lost forever.

you bring up a very good point that i am somewhat reminded of now and then.
my wife has said for years that she hopes she goes first, just so she doesn't have to deal with all my "stuff". biggrin
as we are both winding down toward the "finish line", this past year, both of us has stepped up in getting things in order.
my "stuff" collection has shrunk some, and one of our young[er] members knows what is here. he is also very knowledgeable in the value of items, so if i croak, he will be able to get her a fair deal, as well as insuring nothing goes to the land fill.
