I came across a late model 2002 Dodge Ram Bosch Style 130 Amp alternator.

I've been doing some research, and it looks like this is almost a direct swap, less the modification of the brackets and splicing the field wires into a late model oval connector and adding a fused wire from the Battery post of the alternator over to the starter relay post.

Is it really that simple? Has anyone else done this?

PS, the reason I want to do this is because I'm running electric fan, and amp, and I'm going to be adding a/c. I have the usual "dim light syndrome".

Thanks!

You will want to bypass your ammeter too..it is probably rated for a max of 50 or 60 amps going through it... (It is a good mod anyways..especially so if you are running an alternator that can put out double the current with enough draw on it then the ammeter is rated for)

Ammeter is long gone:). Running Autometer gauges with Voltmeter.

Does the Bosch have a V belt or serpentine pulley?

Serpentine, but I heard the GM V Belt Pulleys work on it. That's next on my to do list.

Thanks for the pulley info... I'm watching the post since I have a similar problem.

Here is a kit I did for a local guy. This is a big alternator from a late model Lexus.
