I contacted my fleet sales guy about buying a diesel 1500. Going through the build your truck webpage, it doesn’t appear that the Rambox is offered for the newer style truck.

Jumping over to the Classic line, it is available on certain models. I have a personal Ram SSV, and for work, I have a 21 model SSV . Both have the box.

I had planned to get a 1500 diesel with a bunch of options for my retirement reward, but any truck without a Rambox is a deal breaker.

Anyone know the “rule of thumb” for what trucks can and can’t get that option. That box system is invaluable when it comes to farm work, and any other uses I have. Heck I can fit a golf bag in the dang thing.

They do exist, as I've seen a few, but haven't seen many... did they drop the Ram Box on the 2022s? *Edit, of course this is a GAS truck in the photo, not a diesel...

I like these Ram boxes as an option since that area is pretty much wasted space. I remember back in the 90's I was on a job site and one of the other crews had 2 2ND Gen Rams there and the bed sides both flipped up 180 degrees and within the bed area was storage shelves and compartments. I thought those were awesome. Never seen them again on any trucks after that job.

I ordered Ram Boxes on my 2500 I got in spring, I think they are great! Mopar sells a lot of accessories for them, and I bought the rifle/fishing pole rack accessory they have.
I am a bit disappointed as rifles in cases don’t really fit in the slots in the rack. You’d think it would have occurred to the designers that most sportsman transport their rifles and shotguns cased. rolleyes
My friend who has a 2018 2500 with 95,000 miles and ramboxes showed me where the outer panel on one of the ramboxes is coming lose and needs to be reglued to fix. Is this a common problem?
I thought they were available on all Rams with 6’ and 6’4” boxes. I’ve heard due to supplier shortages some options have recently been discontinued or restricted depending on trim level, I wonder if that is what is happening here?

A 1500 diesel to reward yourself??? I work on the things and I haven’t found a fellow tech that would own one. I’d get the HEMI all day long.

I tell everyone to stay away from those Eco-diesels. You'll regret it if you don't. All the Mopar techs are well versed at the problems and avoid them too. They like to catch on fire too!! Do yourself a favor and do some internet research of peoples problems with them.
Go with the 5.7 Hemi, they have MDS and get decent MPG and plenty of power.

Agreed,

I talked to a guy who has a an ECO tech truck and he said his former 5.7 hemi truck would out pull it easily.,,,,,especially loaded. put a trailer behind it only makes it worst

I recently bought a 2012 hemi truck with the MDS hemi and I love it. More than enough power to pull anything I have in it or put behind it. And Im averaging high teens for MPGs

I would have loved to get a Rambox truck. But I couldnt find one in my price range that didnt have 150,000 miles on it

Thanks for the information and advice against the diesel. After getting the price on the model I was looking at, I told the rep to just set me up with a new SSV. For public safety qualified, the price is great. I can get a lot of options, but not all.

My 2015 has under 50,000 miles on it. I am sure I can sell it pretty fast.
