i have had my demon or 2 summers now and i have put 2 mini starters on it. this will be my 3rd summer and i have to put another one on it. my guess is cause its so close to the headers (hooker), over time it gets too hot?... is this the reason, and any ideas on what to do about it?

thanks in advance for ur help.

I have had a Dakota V-6 starter on my 340 Demon with Doug's brand headers for several years with no troubles at all. Bought it at a wrecking yard for $25. I now have one on my Dakota with a 408 and Hooker Super Comps and have had no troubles. I take that back, when the battery was weak it would not engage the starter drive all the way. I replaced the battery and cables and have had no troubles since.

I had the same mini starter on my volare with TTI headers. No problem here. What kind of starter are you using new or rebuilt? A lot of these chain store rebuilt starters are junk.

My 2 inch TTIs with the scatter shield touches the tube. Its been in for at least 10 years. My kids 413 with 2 1/4 tubes has been in for 2 years and no problems.I have a reman 360 mini and the kid has a 440 Source new one.Either your cables are 2 small and pulling too many amps or you have the small starter. They do have at least 2 or 3 different with different powers. The 360 is the big one.The Source one is the same.Rocky

Maybe you need some 6 volt cables. In the 80's, my duster killed 3 Die Hard batteries in a month. Finally an old guy listening to the conversation at the store suggest 6 volt cables. Did the swap and the 4th Die Hard was going strong when I (foolishly) sold the Duster a couple of years later.
