Does this distributor look like a Summit/Firecore distributor? The only number on it is "A-1" on the bottom of the housing. It came on a complete low deck engine a friend bought, but didn't have a cap on it. Just need to know what it is so we can get a cap and use it...maybe. It does have the MSD style plug, but it's not an MSD piece. I think this is SUM-850082-1

Sure does look exactly like summit/ jegs/ firecore distributor. If it is, a stock replacement cap from a auto store will work. Or summit carries a male terminal (HEI style) cap and rotor kit that will work on that and a stock distributor

Sure does look exactly like summit/ jegs/ firecore distributor. If it is, a stock replacement cap from a auto store will work. Or summit carries a male terminal (HEI style) cap and rotor kit that will work on that and a stock distributor It does take a factory style cap or you can get the HEI style cap for it. I would not recommend taking it apart like a Mopar distributor as that is where most people have problems with them. I have had one in my car going on 9 years now with zero issues and I was able to customize the curve without disassembly with picks and hemostats . I like the ease of adjustment and the HEI style cap is very secure with the Firecore wires. Gus

Given the reputation these things have, if we use it, I'll gut it and get a crank trigger.
