Anyone else running the raised port or CNC indys on their smallblock? Just wondering if you have dynoed the motor what timing it liked. The CNC heads have a much larger chamber and I noticed on the dyno that the motor was picking up power each time I increased the timing. I went from 30 to 33 to 35 and finally ran out of time and had to pull it off the dyno. I picked up 10 rwhp going from 33 to 35 and Im wondering if it wouldn't make even more power at 36-38*. My motor also seems to like more fuel than before. Ive got a 1090 cmf king demon and went from 93 jets to 96's and it was still lean (13.9). It was 14.7 with the 93's. What do you guys think. Oh, it made 540 to the tires so far. The car made 513 rwhp before with the hand ported 360-1's and ran a best of a 6.19 @ 111.

EVERY INDY CNC Chamber motor I have done.... does'nt matter what piston shape, what compression, what fuel.... has made best power with 38-42 timing. Looking at the burn patterns on pistons & chambers off of used ones they have real good burn, but like alot of spark lead......

Sounds like it picked up at least 30 HP over what seemed to be some pretty radical hand ported -1's. Hopefully you can find even more, glad you finally got the piston hassles etc ironed out.

I basicly got screwed on the pistons and had to use them. They cut way too much off of them and they wound up being 16 grams lighter than my old ones. After they re-cut the valve reliefs they went from a +4.85cc dome to a -.685 dome which dropped my compression to about 11.8 to 1 from 14.5 to 1 with my old heads and pistons. Thats why I was surprised to see that it picked up HP from the old motor. I know I can pick up at least 10-15 more HP with just some more fuel and then I would like to try some more timing also. I know 2 degrees (33 to 35) picked up 10hp to the tires.

That's good to know. I recently ran my 422 with 360-2 heads for the first time with 34* timing. I didn't get to do any tuning but it sounds like there is plenty of power left just from timing. Your car runs good. Got any pics?

Wow that motor looks great! Who's valve covers, and how much did you have to mill the heads to get them down to 59cc? If I can't get the e.t. I want out of mine I'll throw my Bigs 1050 4500 on mine.

I milled mine .030 and they were still 67cc's. I was a Ross piston man until I got screwed over. They made my pistons wrong which I didn't find out until after I assembled my motor. They were supposed to be the exact pistons I had before but just cut to allow for the bigger intake valve so I assumed they were correct. Instead of making me new ones I had to dissasemble the motor and send them back and they cut waaaaaayyy too much off of them. It killed my compression and they were 16 grams too light and they said "Dont worry, it will be fine". I can now feel a vibration over 7000 rpms I never had before. Ill never use them again. Its funny when you pay for a specific custom piston and you dont get anything like what you ordered but are forced to use them because thats all they are willing to do even though it was their mistake.

461 small block in a 68 Barracuda with indy heads made 741hp and 638torque on pump gas, naturally aspirated, single 750holley timed at 33. Car went 9.75@139.88mph on a 10" tire

Are they the CNC heads? What does your car weigh with you in it race ready?

Yes cnc heads, 3030lbs full street legal, lights, horn, wipers etc.. they all work, small converter(3200) witch I think is holding it back some, best 60foot 1.420, pretty shitty, but still ran 9.75@139.88mph.

I agree with 369cfmW7 that car should get though the traps in no time.Yes converter has a lot to do with it but I believe you need a domintor also. What size headers are you running?

Tried a 950 on dyno, only picked up 11hp, so left the 750 on with the 1 3/4" headers and smaller cam. Bigger carb would be more efficient with bigger headers and cam!Car is very mello on the street, idles excellent!! Thats with 5000feet air!!!

I believe a 950 is about the same as a 750 or a 850. I bet its nice on the street but I would like to see that engine in race trim. it would have to be a low low 9 second car.very nice car
