My question is what transbrake valvebody to use with a reverse pattern having a2nd neutral after high gear. I have an aluminum rod big block that I want to put in neutral at the end of the run instaed of coming down on the motor. I have recently learned that there is a "clean" neutral and a "safe" neutral. The difference is supposed to be in the situation of overspeeding the front drum during shut-down.Rick Allison says he sells a clean neutral transbrake valvebody as that problem doesn't exist in a Torqueflite, but does in a Turbo 400. Anyone have any experience here? Never even heard of this situation until a couple days ago. Thanks, Bill

We just went back to first gear, free wheels, we could do it in our sleep. or install a gate-lockout over the reverse spot. Turbo Action shifters have that piece so the lever on the handle has to be raised to go in reverse.

727 Specialist http://www.727specialist.com/ offers:

12-22G25SN Trans Brake Safe Neutral Feature
Available Band on or off in low gear

Allows for safe disengagement by keeping rotating parts under control on the other end
Altered shift pattern - PN123N

For cars with aluminum rods that need to be shifted out of gear into neutral at the end of the quarter to take off the strain the rods during deceleration.

As John pointed out Keith Long (727 Specialist)is making the “Griner” brake and they’re available clean N. I run a Pro Trans clean N brake in my 904 with a PPP shifter. Absolutely love the two smile

As per the OP, we need to differentiate between "clean Neutral" and "safe Neutral".

Clean Neutral:

An extra Neutral position after 3rd that release all bands and clutches and prevents compression braking during deceleration.

Safe Neutral:

A Neutral position after 3rd that releases bands and clutches except the front drum. This prevents over-speed of front drum.

Thanks John, that really is what I'm trying to do is locate manufacturers or venders for a "safe" neutral, reverse pattern transbrake valvebody for a 727. Trying to put a list of venders together to contact on Monday and it would probably help if I knew exactly what I was looking for. Thanks again, Bill,

Update is: just like all the specific parts we are all trying to get, these valve bodies are hard to locate as the manufacturers are mostly out of stock or won't answer their phones. Waiting for a call back from Cope now. Their website indicates they have stock on hand. Billet 'clean' neutral transbrakes.Sounds like building 'safe' neutral valvebodies is problematic due to the breakdown of the epoxy in the valve bodies produced earlier, according to Keith at 727 Specialties on the Griner valve bodies. Said he wasn't going to build anymore with that type of modification, but is planning on a run of 'clean neutral units in a couple months. Rob at A&A said they will be building some 'clean' units in the near future also. Filled out the request sheet but haven't heard back yet. Being a billet unit, Cope's may have the solution already covered in production design. Should know something next week.
Gonna knock out some Lexan windows and some front end alignment stuff while waitin'. Gettin' good at waitin'! Bill

Thanks guys for the help. John Cope came through. He had the clean neutral valvebody, billet drum ,good bands, and other parts in stock. They were delivered this morning. He spent the time going over everything and will be a good source in the future. He and his wife are very customer oriented folks. So if anyone is looking for TF parts, they've gottem. Bill
