As of today, I have now stopped smoking for 9 years.

That translates into 82,172 cigarettes NOT smoked, for a savings of $27,322.34.

Calculated at 5 minutes per cigarette I have increased my life expectancy by 9 months, 1 week, 5 days, 7 hours, 42 minutes, 14 seconds.

(There are 4 additional leap year days in the calc that I did not include....too complicated wink )

First off, congratulations on not only doing it but sticking with it. It is a constant mental battle to stay off the weed. I enjoyed smoking, if I could I'd be smoking right now. Quit in '96 following a heart attack. My cardiologist at the time looked at me in my hospital bed and said the immortal words that changed my life:

"If you continue to smoke, you are going to die."

And the rest is history.

Congratulations to all of you!

One of the best decisions you have every made.

I have never smoked but I know that quitting smoking can be very hard and I admire you for it.

I quit sometime in the mid 70s. I discovered way back then I could buy more Mopar race car parts with the money I was spending on smoking. Pretty much quit drinking booze at the same time, for the same reason. (That and it wasn't as much fun once I was legal age!)
I was doing a pack of smokes a day until I spent 4 days in the hospital for an unrelated reason. When I got out of the hospital I figured I had most of the habit kicked. There were still trying times, but I succeeded. The memories of racing provide more fondness then anything smoking or drinking related did. Gene

I've "quit" on and off since the early 90's but always caved to the temptation. In the fall of '17 I quit and have not even had the urge since.
