i have a set of 48* W2 heads and i'm wondering if they will work on my 59* 340 race block? i have done some google searching but most come up 59* heads on 48* blocks

Yes they will work, it is just a normal W2 head but the 48° version has pushrod clearance to suit the 48° block tappet layout
Obviously you will need to use rockers for a 59° as the 48° rockers have a lot less offset

You will need to machine the heads for pushrod clearance to go to 59*

The 48* version usually ran a Jesel or T&D rocker system, so not sure if they are machined differently for the rocker mounting. The easiest solution would be a set if 59* W2 heads, or something similar like an Edelbrock Victor or Indy head.

i bought the heads complete with 1.6 T&D rockers. the intake face has been machined for the pushrod clearance.

i might put these up for sale and try to find a set of 59* W9's or as you mentioned the Victor or Indy
