I'm thinking about it for Thursday and Friday. I've never been to it before.

i have been selling there for the last 20+ years.
we sell mostly scratch and dent VW Mazda parts.
don't have many Mopar parts left to sell.

just a hint THE EVENT IS BIG. there are something like 5,000 swap spaces. it will take you days to walk all of the swap. the best part is they check the swap spaces for car related parts for sale only so there won't be to much worthless junk for sale. unfortunately with the seller counts getting smaller more crap is starting to pop up now.
i am not sure on the amount of cars. something like 2,500 show cars of all makes and 1,000 cars for sale.

THE EVENT IS WELL RUN. the garbage cans almost never overflow. the bathrooms are clean and maintained. the food is reasonably good. the pancake breakfast is great.
you won't have a bad experience other than spending a lot of $$$..

They even added numerous food trucks this year - Like there isn’t enough food already - But great business opportunities for all the food trucks

New buildings added

Some new pavement and blacktop

Live bands at night

Celebrities , not all auto related

I enjoy seeing and talking to all the individuals Male/Female from all the Motor Trend TV shows

Some honestly really talented people

If the weather is decent , get there early with your car - The show grass , and blacktop will fill up fast

It’s usually in the 90s , hot and humid - Or rain

Thursday and Friday can bee crazy busy - Now with no Sunday event , Saturday seems to bee the wind down day , but the Car show part of it stays busy

Like mentioned by Mr T you could walk for miles all three days and probably never see everything

Car corral for sale is its own car show walking

All the , or most of the Mopar sellers or vendors are always in Carlisle - That’s the part that sucks , two awesome shows always the same weekend

A few years ago , Midwest Mopars brought a bunch of cars out of the Minneapolis area and set up there club

Just so many unique vehicles you might never see anywhere else

When they level off the hills and fill in the valleys, I'll go back. Pulling a wagon loaded full of parts ain't no walk in the park, especially when the weather is hot and humid. shake_head

There are a lot of booths with household junk there. So you spend a lot of extra time walking past it.

If they cut out the household booths it would be a lot more worthwhile.

Sounding good, I'm looking forward to it! Perhaps I'll treat my back paws to a new pair of sneakers for the trek. XmasPengs

Perfect Weather - Mid 70s and Sun/Clouds - No Humidity

So much walking - And I bet I didn’t even cover 30%

A few Mopars when I pulled the phone out on Friday

They are not sideways on my IPad or IPhone

However when I resize to Large to meet max 4MB on some pictures they show up sideways

Has to bee this website ?

Thanx Scott

If you click on any picture

It gives you the option to rotate to normal position on my IPad /IPhone so try the rotation arrow

Peace

welll, I made it to my first-ever Iola event. It was awesome! I only was able to spend Thursday and Friday there, but I managed to walk every row of the entire swap meet, the entire car corral and the entire car show. I must've walked 15 miles. There was so much to see there, it was well worth the time and the wear and tear on the feet. The weather was perfect. The whole thing was incredibly well organized. I stayed in the campground with my camper and trailer. Everything went quiet at 10 o'clock so it was easy to sleep. There were minimal lines for entry, food, etc. and the lines moved fast. There is plenty of food and plenty of bathrooms.

I would say there was a better-than-average blend of car stuff versus flea market stuff available. There was some amazingly cool Mopar stuff, but it was pretty scarce compared to Chevy and ford stuff. I bought a bunch of miscellaneous little things, a bunch of original brochures for the 57 De Soto, an engine stand, five sets of nors points and condensers for dual point hemi distributors, and a vintage motorcycle.

Continuing my pattern of extraordinarily good luck, I dropped my name in the drawing for a free scraper / deburring tool at the iola swap meet. I stopped by the next day to check and see if I was a winner and lo and behold I was!

I didn't stand in line to meet Greg Brady or Linda Vaughn.

So I was very impressed. I will for sure be back.

now you know why Iola was voted the best car show in the US multiple times.

as i am sure you have heard on the announcements, and this needs to be repeated. most of the people selling food, directing traffic and doing the dirty work are VOLUNTEERS. most of the $$$ earned from the show are used to support local charities.

my friend who i share his swap spaces, his father was one of the original group that started the show. he has been to every Iola car show they have had. he used to run the popcorn wagon for a lot of years. for a long time he was the only for profit food vendor. his parents passed away and they kicked him out as a for profit food vendor. now there are multiple for profit vendors but they still won't let him sell popcorn. i guess they make way to much $$$for the effort required to turn a profit to pass up.
