The starter on my RR is on the outs. I thought it was the original but I found a 1980 date cast into it, so I might as well go aftermarket. Need a decent one thats cheap.

geez I wonder... This question gets asked and answered once a week. http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/elec/1.htmlor do a search.

Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first.
Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

a mini starter for a 93 Dak with a 5.2/5.9 mag engine works wonders and is 1/16 the weight of the old style I got mine from th JY 14.00$ had a contac kit put in at a alt/starter shop 65$ 79$ was the cheap side, they go for 100$ up and the core can kinda be steep well worth the $ how every much you get it for IMO

Manifolds right now John...but someday I might go to headers if the price is right. I was trying to keep this car all original (it only has 43000 on it and is #s matching) but little things like the starter keep popping up. Its cheaper to just get the mini starter and keep my eye open for a date coded original at the swaps.

You need to be careful of which mini you get and which header , I tried to put a mitsuibishi based mini on a 383 with 1 3/4 tube headers ... not sure of the brand ?? ... and the starter was on the header tube , I had to dent the tube a lot to clear the std gear reduction unit .

Installed a Denso mini/hi-torque starter on my '70 383/727 Road Runner last night (purchased from Mancini Racing last Friday). Clears my TTi headers fine. As stated above, the plastic wiring lug adapter had to be removed as it was contacting the engine block.
I'll finish putting everything back together, and post after it fires.
Update! Works great! Car fires up instantly.
