All, About ready to drop in engine/trans - headers. 360, 904, TTI 1 7/8” x 3 1/2” headers. Stock engine compartment, no wiper or heater motor. Question is, back in the day I put the transmission in under the car, drop the engine in and headers at the same time from the top. Is it possible to put the engine & transmission together and put them in at the same time? I do have one of Myk’s Tools engine pivot lift plate, it worked great with my Coronet - 440/727 at the same time, not sure on an A body. Being a bit older, I feel it may be a bit easier, but wondering if anyone has experience doing it either way, and what would be easier. I know I should just not be a lazy [censored] and go out to the shop and try it, just looking for a bit of assistance before I do to help make it go a bit smoother.
Thanks all!
Wally.

I've installed a bunch of A motors in any different year A bodies with them bolted together, 727,904 and 4 speeds stick tranny and maybe one 3 speed stick tranny The one piece headers are more challenging fitting them in at the same time than the motor and tranny are Good luck on your deal

You can do it. Helps if you have an extra set of hands.
Coated headers, leave or put them in plastic/garbage bags to protected. Bungee cord them up if working alone.
Having a V out pan makes things harder.
Go slow when lowering and make sure the headers aren't pinching. Thanks all for the tips. Like I’ve posted on here many times, I had a much easier time when I was working on this car 30 years ago, energy, strength and honesty didn’t care if I screwed something up, I’d just fix it. 20 years of the car sitting, raising kids, work etc… My son isn’t in to it as I was , but helps when I ask so I hope to have an extra set of hands. I’m trying to do things once, and do it correctly to make the var reliable, fun and fast. I sure do appreciate everyone’s 2 cents on all of the questions I’ve asked on here, quite frankly I get a lot of inspiration from the answers and what everyone else puts on here, especially the old guys like Cab…..👍🏻👍🏻 Thank you!

You can do them together, no biggie if you can get the tilt. Also helps the angle to have the car's rear higher than its front. Did an R&I - engine only - without removing the hood, and with a deep pan as well, but it was tight. I have some clean blankets, moving blankets, and towels to wrap firewall, aprons, yoke, & headers. Lay the headers in, bungee for best location, and take your time. Pan, steering, distributor, trans/tunnel, and headers are the pinch points. Floor jack for tailshaft, have everything laid out, and it can even be a 1-person job, I've done it. But I'd recommend having an experienced friend just for the 2nd set of eyes & help aligning things.

Building an engine test and break in stand for this exact reason.

I know I'm late, what about lifting car and bringing engine up from bottom like like the factory did? All, Engine is in - went in really easy with trans attached, so I decided to do headers afterwards. Installing headers wasn't easy by any means, but follow directions and I'll be damned they do get in place eventually. It seems the starter housing is just barely making contact with the SFI flex plate. Anyone ever encounter this? I'd imagine a couple touches with a grinding wheel should rectify that. Thanks again everyone for the assistance!! Wally.P.S. - Someday I would like to do the install from the bottom along with the K Frame - It looks pretty simple.
