Wanted to see if anyone has had a like experience…..
Billet Specialties rear wheel. 15x10, 5.5” backspace.
I added rear disc brakes from The Right Stuff.
Now like an idiot, I didn’t read the note on the website which states I need 6 9/16” from the center of the axle to the top of the caliper for clearance, it’s closer to 7”.
What disc brake caliper setup will work?
Someone suggested a spacer between the wheel and the rotor?
Maybe I’ll end up with different wheels.
Not happy, these setbacks are probably preventable, I’m trying to do as much research as possible.

Thanks in advance everyone!

Wally

[censored] . I had the same issue .
I have same wheel . i swapped from drum to discs using a kit with GM metric (caddy) caliper . Darn was i annoyed . As the caliper is cast iron i shaved it a little to get clearance , used a mini belt sander .
The rim has a deep drop centre , with the bigger back space bupbow

Maybe Dr Diffs mustang based rears would fit better ? But from my distance you just make it work

I have what sounds like the exact same kit.
Caliper is ‘83 Eldorado? Rotor is late 80’s Lincoln.
I have a good machinist, should I have him remove some material?
I’ve owned this damn thing since 1983 and now I’m trying to do things right with good parts, I keep having setbacks.

yes sounds similiar , mine has a dual pattern rotor , Pontiac ? I bought mine as new but old and unfitted . Not sure a machinist will be excited trying to remove a curved area . Ask him , or even use a 4" grinder with a coarse flapper wheel . Mark area to linish, shave . it wasnt a lot . You could even do it on car i did . this also saves crap getting into caliper areas it shouldnt

Just trim the caliper to fit. Plenty of meat there to take out what you need.

Took your word for it and started grinding.
About an hour later, the wheel fits!

How’s it look?

A little bit of black high heat paint and nobody will know the diff.

Don't forget to lube the caliper pins at the o-rings with some synthetic grease.

I will do that, thank you!
I thought I should take them off, clean them and hit them with the paint.
At least the car will be a bit lighter after all of that grinding?..😂😂
