A small amount of debris is normal , get a thin round magnet , like one found in the later OD's , and stick it in a corner of the pan away from moving servos.

How did you flush the cooler before installing the trans? Did you replace the converter when the trans was rebuilt? Why did you rebuild the trans to start with?
I agree, install a magnet - passenger side rear of the pan. If it runs fine currently, you have nothing to lose by cleaning the pan, adding the magnet and monitor from that point on.

I used to work as a transmission tech many years ago. It was common knowledge to us that 727s were trashy but reliable transmissions. A bit of debris in the pan is common, especially after a rebuild. Don't worry about it as long as it is functioning correctly.
