I have had some NOS tires for EVER, time to move them out, but need to figure out what they are..... here is the first batch:

Pair - Firestone Wide Oval rwl, F60x15's - VD UD DL1013 , BD-55709-2,only diff is one has 5-UU-1 and one has 6-UR

Single Goodyear Custom Wide Tread, Polyglas Redline G70x15 - US 01827, 227535-1

Single Goodyear Speedway Wide Tread Redline, E70x14 - TE 01827, 224075-1

Single Goodyear Polyglas rwl, A70x13 (!!!) C-40294-17, PDF4 , Y4A084

All marked Made in USA, DOT on some of them.....

Sorry guys, I know its a big ask but I cant seem to Google it... thanks for any help or directions...…

Tire date coding didn't start until sometime in the later 1990s. Its pretty likely your bias ply wide tires were made well before the tire codes ever started.

They say the bias tires have a longer shelf life then radials do, but 30+ years may be a stretch. Good luck selling your tires, your market is likely a collector that may not be concerned about actually driving on the tires. Gene

IMO, those maybe date codes, but they are maybe intentionally cryptic, and as mentioned, before they were required to be in a simpler DOT format, week and year.


Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

I assume that the original standardization was later updated, because if what we are seeing is the 1971 requirement(?), it was still a bit nebulous to anyone outside the tire industry, including me, I suspect.
