A long Straight rod 3/8 or so ? dia. with two beveled sliding bushings will work in place of the laser. Drop the rod into the grooves and look at it's contact to the pulleys on both ends. Slide the beveled end of the bushings to the pulleys and again check alignment. Also keep in mind a certain amount of misalignment is allowable with V belts. How much depends on a number of variables Silly question? do you still have the belts that were on the car for 30K with no noise? Call Gates or Dayton

Inspect all of your pulleys. Check the sides to make sure they are not dished. They should be straight. If you can find a sheave gauge, you can also check that all pulleys require the same belts. See pics below. Ron
