What is the best way to remove a scratch/grit wet sand paper to use to remove an 8 inch scratch from clear coat on a base/clear coat paint job? The scratch is not down to the base coat but is in deep on the clear. This happened in a Walmart parking lot from someone running a shopping cart handle down the side of the wifes SUV, this justs me.

All help is appreciated, thanks Ed

You will always see it unless you bring it to the body shop.

You should be able to fill the scratch with some clear, then wet sand with super fine paper, then buff with compound and polish. It may still be visible some but should look better.

Take it to a body or detail shop and have someone who's good with a buffer work at it. I have seen some rather large scratches go away in the hands of the right person.
