I think when they spend more time listening to the sounds from in the car they will reveal more. Glad he got out, but it happens.

Injector O ring caused the fire.

I can see that being a problem when running a ton of boost. The o-rings might not be designed for super high boost applications. Could be a case of pushing OEM technology too far in the racing world.

Fuel spraying from the faulty injector o-ring and then igniting.

Steve Morris said the fuel pressure is 138PSI or something under boost, those o-rings are doing work.

Billet Atomizer makes screw in injectors to solve that problem. Been out for a few years. SUX though!

Nasty to see, glad he's ok, we had this discussion many times over here with RedVictor2......the correct title for these cars is that they are "Street Legal Pro Mod Race Cars"....too much emphasis is given to them as "Street Cars" as they are definitely not that just cos they have lights/wipers and are legal, but all credit to him for surviving drag weeks where our man has not covered anywhere near that amount of miles to date as far as I know.

It was mentioned that the O rings were ran all last year and on drag week. 158lbs of rail pressure, my take away is that the O rings are a maintenance item that need to be changed on a regular schedule. Are cars that fast not required to have a fire suppressor system?

I'm glad he's okay and the car can be fixed. The Safety Safari did their job, it could've been a lot worse had it not been at a national event.

Yeah he is really fortunate that he was at a big event with a full safety crew. A fire like that could've killed him at a podunk track while the pot bellied track crew tried to find the keys for the safety vehicle. You can see in the video that he panicked a bit when his latch hung up on him. A little snag like that can easily kill a guy when there is a fire. He might want to invest in a fire system. And change the o-rings on a regular basis.
