Brad Penn here. Price on it here just went thru the roof. Last case I bought was 40 bucks. Now 60 bucks. Heck of a time to increase oil capacity on the cuda.LOL

Just a test for you considering switching to BP. Wash some of your internal engine parts with your current oil off in a parts washer and do the same with BP. The stuff really hangs on. Not very scientific, but sure makes you feel better when you have trouble breaking it down with solvents. Beep

Only one supporter of the AMSoil but the graph shown is interesting, how does it stack up in an engine requiring zinc? A ball bearing test is one thing, what kind of real world comparisons exist?

Four-Ball Wear Test (ASTM D-4172) = Metal to metal contact, 132 pounds of pressure, 302 degrees Fahrenheit, 1800rpm, 1 hour duration.

Some believe the test doesn’t represent real world engine operation, while others consider it somewhat conducive to flat-tappet cam operation. It’s not THE test, but it’s A test to look at when considering motor oils. The Four-Ball Wear Test is an approved test by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM).

I figured hemi471 would have chimed in by now. He likes Amsoil Dominator 10W-30 in his 528 Hemi.

I used Valvoline VR1 10W30 for break-in then switched to Amsoil. When the new Dominator oil came out thats what I use. Again 10W30. Im not a fan of thick oil. The Dominator Racing oil is a high zinc formula ( I have a flat tappet cam) So far I am very pleased with Amsoil!

I have been using Bradd-Peen for years now. I currently use the 10w30 race oil with a WIX filter in both my cars. One an 11.0 Roadrunner and the other an 8.80 dragster.

Use their break in oil too. (Still add the Comp lube to it).

Anyone here a fan of Mobil 1 oil filters? I ask because I recently had a few of them given to me new in the boxes, hate to ust toss them but I will if they are junk. I've used Wix before with no troubles.

If anyone wants a case or 2 of Brad Penn, if you pre-order it I can bring it to the Mopar Meet at E`town. My friend is a dealer. I will get prices tomorrow. I know he just got a shipment in and it has been selling fast. Sorry preorders only last year I brought 12 cases and only sold one. I don`t get anything for this I`m just helping him out and fellow Mopar fans. UPDATE; 10w30 and 20w50 $56.00 a case

Yea,I'm almost getting the feeling that "Oil is Oil" if your engine is setup correctly, seems like there's cult followings for a few brands but not allot of scientific data to promote one over the other

Oil is Oil...

API Motor oil categories:

Group II – Refined from crude oil
Group III – Highly refined from crude oil (considered by many as Fully Synthetic)
Group IV- Polyalphaolefins or PAOs (considered by many as 100% Synthetic)
Group V- Esters (used as additives in all the above)

Motor oils are not created equal.

Oh I understand that, but at the end of the day does one (insert specific oil per application such as automotive racing quality oil here) really protect your engine (measurably) better than the other? That's what I'm not really seeing here.

There is one common theme though... flat tappet owners have a strategy to get more zinc or equivalent than offered in regular car oil.

Whether its diesel oil, "classic car" oil, racing oil or one of the additives it seems all have an approach to get extra protection.

Well some of the benefits of top tier synthetic motor oils may not be fully realized until utilized in endurance type racing.

It just depends on what you’re trying to achieve with your specific application.

For example, I found this post in another automotive forum that might be pertinent to this topic:

Quote:

“I work on an off-road race truck and we run oil temp gauges and found the following: During a fifteen minute race our oil temps would get up to 300+ if using any non synthetic oils. Mobil 1 dropped the oil temps by about twenty degrees to 280 and switching to Amsoil we dropped it to about 250-260 .......this is not representative of everyday usage but keep in mind that the water temp stays always in between 180-200 at all times no matter which oil.....so all in all it is kind of an accepted opinion that Mobil 1 is the cheapest and least effective of the synthetics but all of the higher end oils.......Amsoil, Royal Purple, etc. work better under extreme conditions. I guess it all depends on what your uses are. I just have my own opinions formed because of the info stated above.”

BTW, how are things in SpoCompton I used to live in Spokane.
