Does anyone know what happened to the speed pro cams product line. An engine builder installed a speed pro cam back in 2000 on my 440 that they built. The specs were .480 lift intake and exhaust, and 300 deg. duration. I believe it was the pro 4000 line. They didn't send me the cam card when they shipped the engine docs to me. I remember until a year ago speed pro (Federal Mogul) listed this cam on their website, now it isn't listed any longer. Did they discontinue the pro 4000 cams? Has anyone used this cam and remember if the specs above are correct? Thanks!

I used a TRW, TP-238 cam many years ago with those same specs. Didn't trw pistons become speedpro's? When I set it up, I recall it was about 230 degrees @ .050. I think I put my original 6bbl cam in the trw box & think the timing events are on that box. I'll check & pm them to you if you'd like.

I ran it for several years, with my automatic & power brakes & the vacuum wasn't ideal but it ran pretty good. Shifted about 5500, headers & that cam on a very stock 6bbl w/3:23's went 106 mph @ 1800'.

Thanks for the reply. Your setup sounds exactly like mine except I'm running 3.91 gears, with a 6 pack. Yes I do believe it was 230 @ .050. The vacuum isn't the greatest. But like I mentioned, I didn't print off the specs from the website now their not listing that cam anymore. I would appreciate it if you could PM me the specs when you have a chance. Thanks again for the help.

No problem. I'll be in the shop tonight & scrounge it up.

speed-pro rates that cam at 300/300 on the seat, 230/230@.050, 109lsa, .480 lift. i believe that this is a generic grind used by other cam grinders. it has the same specs at .050 and lift as the lunati bracket master and the old edelbrock torquer cam. the only real difference is lunati and edelbrock rated the seat timing at 292 degrees; and thats probably no more than rating the advertised duration at .004 vs .006. those cams usually have 5 degrees of advance ground into them. performance should be similar to a comp cams 280 magnum.

Thanks! That's the one I have. I guess Speed Pro isn't offering these anymore.
