Anybody own their cars in an LLC in,Montana specifically? Do you need to have an address in that state? Does this save from having to pay sales tax on cars?
Ultimately it's legal in MT. But it isn't Montana that you need to worry about--it's your home state. What are their laws and how aggressively they go after stuff like this?
This has been a thing for years--there have been many write ups on car sites and RV sites already.
You are going to find people with both opinions, do it and don't do it. A lot of it depends on your individual circumstances.
My old boss has all his specialty cars with Montana plates on them and they are in 3 different states with no issues for the last 10 years. He has an LLC there with an address at a UPS Store I believe and has his mail forwarded to where he lives...
The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.
