My sons 62 has swing outs. I don't like them. Every time I get in, my clothes get hung up on the bar. My 64 has a straight bar with no swing out. But the wheel is removable. I like it way better. Doug

Mine is a little different. It was certified to 8.50 but that has expired.

Thanks for the pictures and ideas. I'm thinking I will go with the swingouts since I will want the car to be legal wherever it might race.

Mine are curved to clear the armests in my '63. They were done by a local chassis shop and, while they aren't 100% legal to the letter of the NHRA rulebook, I've never had a tech have an issue with them. We race at 5 different NHRA AND IHRA tracks with it.
I like them welded in vs. the swing out style because of the added rigidity to the chassis.
I also did not go with swingout because I wanted the bar to help stiffen the car. And I dont have a curved bar as its straight and I can slide over it real easy. But I did have to remove my armrest. Ron
