Well after driving in the first significant snow of the year and checking my truck’s options and window sticker I’ve come to the shocking realization that my 2016 2500 diesel Ram 4x4 has an open rear differential. down
The truck has about every possible option so I assumed it had a limited slip rear end.
I’m shocked they would even build a heavy duty diesel truck with an open rear diff but the truck is from down south so maybe it’s not that much of a priority.
Driving in the snow with an open diff is almost impossible in 2wd.

I believe my 2500 truck has the 11.5 rear end and I think the factory limited slip differentials are the helical type.
So I’m wondering if the factory type limited slip diff would be good enough for my needs or are there better options.
I have no desire to take the truck off road and don’t need any type of manually operated locker differential nor do I want a super heavy duty diff that pops and creeks going around corners.
I just need a decent limited slip differential that works good and is quiet.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The factory limited slip should be perfect. I have one in my 18 and I have no complaints. Works great towing or off road.

Heard of that happening........there's no excuse for a dealer to miss that option on a four wheel drive. Sorry for your luck.
