Hello everyone! I have searched for a correct answer to my question in many places and am no further ahead. I thought I would try this site.
I am cleaning up my 1967 R/T emblems and they will need to be painted. The black paint on the emblem is a satin black as far as I can tell. I would like to know if the black goes up the side of the letters or if it ends at the bottom of the letters. I can not tell on mine as most of the paint is missing. Photos I have looked at from a side view are not clear or .... who takes photos of the side of an emblem?!
Second is what is the "correct" colour of red for the emblem? Would there not be a paint code for this?
Any help is appreciated.
Randy

Greetings: I have a 67 Coronet R/T I purchased new. The black goes to the bottom, not up. As far as the red is concerned, I would take an original emblem to an

automotive paint store where they can use computerized camera and scan original and come up with paint code. I anticipated to do that on my originals and

have not done so as yet. I have had them match other things with great results. Hope this helps. GOOD luck. You can PM me or telephone Jack, 330-719-0606

THANKS for the platform MOPARTS!

I couldn't find the reference but IIRC most people are using one of the One-Shot reds for emblems.

Jack.. thank you very much for the info. You are a lucky man to have bought an R/T new!!!
Well now I can paint the black knowing it does only go to the bottom of the letters.
There is not much red paint left on my letters and what is left is very faded.
Thank you!!!

How soon are you going to paint the red? If you give me some time, I will take one of the original NOS emblems I have to a paint shop and try to get a paint code.
What I have dome is had the paint shop mix the formula and give to me in a spray can. Works well. THNAKS for the platform MOPARTS! These are not body shops
but regular paint stores. The one I use was named Hopkins and kip. I believe they are only local here.

6PakBee, thank you very much for the info and the link. I will be looking into this.
I understand the 67 R/T red has a bit of orange in it compared to the 68 and up.

John! I am in no hurry what so ever to paint the emblems.
I have not started restoring the car yet, but have been trying to do little things, that can be done in the basement during the winter. Hopefully I will have a heated garage next winter. I will try to figure out where I should post an introduction of myself and car and some photos later.

Have two emblems done and the center blank for the grill. Wish the chrome was better on the emblem but it is what it is.
