Finally a HUSKER again
I called Pat a week ago to order some of his 727 parts, and we always end up bullchitting.... Well out of the blue he said, My business is for sale, Would love to sell it to ya..... then shot me a crazy stupid I really should go to the bank and get the money price!!. I said I love to, but hard for me to do that with my shop space, and honestly limited experience with the race end of the trannys. For what he was offering me I feel stupid for not doing it though. Regardless if any of you guys ever dealt with Pat at SMR, you missed out on a great guy to deal with!

Some 20+ years ago I embarked on what I thought would be a trivial project: rebuild the 727 transmission that would replace the 904 in my Diplomat...LOL, after all, having built 3 engines already I felt like I "knew it all" (OK, OK, I was all of umm...16-17 yrs old then).

I purchased my kit from SMR (having met them at the Sparta Raceway just outside of London, ON, Canada). Well, shortly afterwards as I dug into the trans I learned that this was going to be a LOT harder than I thought...Pat must have returned no less than 5 separate calls from me, quickly provided me with a different set of seals (b/c I screwed up the original order) and answered my questions about all the things I was finding in the belly of that 727 beast!

Went back several times afterwards to get addtional parts. Good memories...

Bought a 4000 stall converter from them 20~ years ago as a kid as well. All of them were extremely helpful, and patient lol!
