There was recent political talk about rolling back DOE regulations on dishwasher water useage.

Our Kitchen Aid was installed with the house in 1991. Still working good, but obviously aged.

I’m trying to research if new dishwashers are out there now without the horrid DOE restrictions.

I can’t find updated info on the ‘net, only that the issue was proposed.

Anyone know?

Don't know, but we have a newer Bosch, it's fantastic. Everything comes out cleaner than if you hand wash it. And, you don't need to rinse dishes before loading. Crazy.

Passed regulation
Looks like new regs are coming for faster dishwashers.
Which to me says lots more energy and water.

My Bosch on the longest cycle takes just under three hours but it cleans everything.
As stated above no rinsing, just wipe off the big stuff and rack ‘em up.
Cascade Platinum packets for detergent.

1) never buy Samsung
2) never buy LG

Why ?? Because there is no spare parts support - it breaks, you're screwed! This is the sh!t big box stores sell but quality appliance stores won't touch.

3) the only option you need is "potscrubber" (and maybe delay start)
4) if I gotta "pre-rinse" under the tap, I may as well finish the job. What do I need a dishwasher for ?!?!
5) don't use any detergents that are in "dissolves in water" plastic wrap - these will clog a fine screen filter in no time flat - use either a liquid or a compressed dry detergent cube.

Me too. Bought a Bosch 5 years ago and it has been a great machine. VERY quiet too.

Good luck finding a Bosch dishwasher, around here there were none in stock anywhere, last month. We ended up buying a Maytag, hope its a good one! Gene

I will be looking for one soon for my new house. I don't care how long they take but I need one that is quiet and does a good job. Prefer a local brand.

cascade platinum cubes work great as was already said, and these were recommended by our dishwasher instructions.

I don't have an answer to OP's question but we bought a new GE dishwasher about 3 years ago and cleans very well and is damn near silent when running . If this meets these newer DOE requirements I would say you really don't have anything to worry about. Takes about 2.5 hours on superhot wash and heated dry.

Another vote for Bosch. Put diswasher in about 4 years ago along with their dual convection oven and a speed oven (microwave+convection).
Only issue I've had was replacing a dimmed out display on the speed oven after about a year. The rest has been all good.

We have a new Bosch as well. It cleans everything really well. Better than our old Kitchen Aid by a long shot.

This is the dish washer we are replacing, but she doesn't look like that. I'm the dish dryer (I don't look like the drying rack on the side of the sink either). grin This one will be our 1st ever, hoping it works well, we are both tired of doing dishes. boogie Gene

Maytag owner here. Did our research, and it was not cheap. Decided to upgrade to a 5 year warranty for an extra 100 bux. We absolutely loved it, then, 5 years to the month we bought it......it turned on by itself. You read right, it started to cycle by itself. It needed a new card, we were told it was a "very common repair" we were also told to extend our warranty. So I did for another 2 years for $250. Let me tell you before you get all up in arms, that warranty renewal has already paid for itself, 3 times over. I'm not renewing the warranty next month. They want $350 for 2 years. Further more, the manufacturers are not releasing
Parts to repair their appliances like they did 15 or 20 years ago.

On top of that, getting the people that are sub contracted to do the warranty work is a nightmare most times.

This thread has me thinking about Bosch now....

This many people really use them? Im shocked. I bought one 25 years ago to fill the spot for it, dont think its been opened in 25 years.

I must be missing something.
