Converting to manual trans and am doing conversion on pedal box...My question is can it can be done in the car without removing the pedal box...
I know about the extra bracket and drilling holes to mount it but what im more concerned with is that center spring...Im using a 3 finger pressure plate and ive been told I need that spring.
Is it advisable to try and put that spring on with the box still installed in the car....Ive read about stretching it out with washers between the coils.... That spring looks like it could be difficult if not dangerous
thanks for any help

i'm old, and standing on my head under the dash is not fun.
if it were me doing this, i would remove the pedal box, drill the holes you need, assemble the extra pedal on the bench, then re-install the pedal box.
just me speaking. your mileage will vary.

I'm in the process of doing the opposite.
I have a auto brake pedal coming and I want to see how hard it is to marry to the 4 speed box.

Too bad yours isn't a 71 B-body, we could just swap.
I have what looks like a Brewers reconditioned 4 speed box and pedals I got with the car, never installed.

I spoke with Brewers and they said they have any part I may need for going to an auto.

We'll see when the pedal gets here.

Joe
