I hear that a 1967 Plymouth Belvedere 2 may have come back up for sale. It was pretty much a regular at the Cordova and Byron tracks. It was originally built by Joel Hersey in Savanna, IL in 1972. It was an orange tunnel rammed 4 speed car that he ran until around 1976. Craig McCaughey (Blue) then bought the car and he raced it until around 1979 when he bought Larry Griffiths Dodge Demon. Craig had the car back halved for some more tire clearance and consistency at the track. Craig last saw the car at an auction in Mattoon, IL around 1990 when, I think, a guy from Wisconsin bought it.

Like I said I've been looking up the racers that I knew in the early 80's, so today I went over to Mopar City and talked to Larry Pontnack for the first time in 40 years. He thought that the car was for sale again.

It's not on racing junk or any other sites that I know of.

Anyone know the car or have another website suggestion where race cars are sold?

Thanks

Not sure about it being for sale, but I used to see it at Assumption a lot in the early 80s. I seem to remember it having a single 4 barrel and an auto then. One thing I do recall is it had HP2 emblems on it, and the guy had no clue what they meant.

Yeah, that's been a while. It was an original 383 4 speed car. Joel just put the badges on the car.

The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.
