My brother is doing a 408 street car build for himself. For his birthday I think I'm going to send his heads out and get them ported for him. Was thinking about sending them to Hughes and have their big mouth port job done on them.

A. Does anyone have experience with this version of Hughes heads.

B. Does someone else have a better program for these heads.

Thanks

I would call around to some of the Mopar shops and get some quotes, and then pick who you feel comfortable with. Unfortunately, I am not up on who can port the small block heads except Shady Dell, and he, as far as I know, is out of business. So take a look at your budget and your goals and see where that puts you...You can always do a cleanup and gasket match yourself with some simple tools and go from there.

Ryan did a complete W5 small block engine for me . I'm very happy with it. But I have not been able to contact him in the last year or so. Thanks for your replay.

We have a couple of F.A.S.T. SB guys here somewhere, but I'd guess Porter or MCH would know their way around...
Judging by the last thread I saw about Shady Dell, you won't be hearing from Ryan soon, and may be better off that way.
(And that's a shame, he had a good deal going there for awhile.)

We usually step up to a 2.055 intake valve, porting, valve job, surface cut, seals and setup on springs runs around 1350.00 with the valves.

I've been to Hughes' shop and had him do some work for me.. he has a CNC machine programmed for porting different heads... in fact, he does heads for other shops ... using his CNC equipment. If you go with him, just be patient as his work load builds up ... get in line ... sooner the better.

Brian at IMM , he did a set for my son. Unreal !! On a ballhoned 360 magnum with flattops. The car has been 11.12 at 123 !! On pump gas. He responded a few posts above. Contact him ! ! ! The only reason we havent been in the tens yet is , the car has no roll bar and a few tracks have told him NO MORE....LOL. I can wait to see what i runs with a little nitrous

Nothing crazy. a Magnum that we ballhoned. He got a flattop forged piston.(standard bore) We figure the comp to be 10.4. Got the stock rods reconditioned. He polished the crank himself with 600 paper. He got a Comp Cam and the heads from Brian at IMM. Its got an RPM air gap manifold on it and a 750 DP. The car runs very well and on pump gas too.

Wow that is awesome. I am still tuning on mine but I have a 96 SB Dodge dakota sport I built into a por mans race truck. Lol I call it my Pro-Junk yard Dakota. Lol I have a 2000 360 magnum engine. It has a stock stroke stock rod, stock crank and stock bore, but does have KB107 pistions. A comp 550 solid lift cam. The heads are out of the box trick flow 190cc heads. PRW 1.6 ROLLER Rockers. Ported indy single plane intake. 800 holley DP carb. 904 transmission with a 8 inch 5600 stall coan converter
4.30 gears and 28x9x15 slicks. I think the compression came out to 11.1. All runs are on 93 pump gas
I dont think the converter is working right. But my best pass has been 11.24 at 115 in the 1/4 and 7.15 at 95.90 in the 1/8 what did your sons car run in the 1/8? I think my truck weighed around 3400/3500 with me in it. I hope it will run in the 10 in the 1/4 with some torque converter tweaking. If I dont end up building a hen3 hemi for my dakota, I would like to build a 426+ stroker small block with around 13-14.1 compression and run it on E85.
