Hi All,

It has been awhile since I posted here but I have another question for you experts. I bought another Durango recently and I took the door panel or I believe card off to fix the window, and now the inside door hinge broke so now I need a new one. My question is how the hell do I get it off? Here are some pictures, any help would be appreciated.......

They don't but you can get one from a junkyard door panel of any color.

You need to melt or cut those black circles and then silicone or goop the used one back on.

Are those poly rivets?

I just saw a poly rivet tool and rivet set on Jegs the other day and was like where would someone ever need a plastic pop rivet?

That's what they look like to me, poly pop rivets.
That what they use to secure the front fender liners on a 2004 Durango.
I just used a thin punch (framing nail size) to punch it straight through and it releases the rivet.
I bought new ones from a body shop supply.
The pin is a littler larger than the standard metal pop rivet pin.
I have multiple pop rivet guns so I just drilled out one of the adapter heads to fit them.
Otherwise it might require buying the correct pop rivet gun.

Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

Those are not poly rivets, they are melted over plastic. There is no opening on the other side for the rivet to expand too. The poly rivets are used for multiple applications of trim, fender liners, shields and what not.

I'm wondering if you could carefully use a Dremel with a small cutting attachment and then find similar rivets/buttons and use plastic welding to put them back on?

That's pretty much how you deal with those things but you don't need any additional parts. You cut off or re-melt the part that's been melted and flattened to push it back thru the hole and to put it back together you need to use something to glue the post in the hole so it doesn't come out again.

Thank you 5thAve. My idea buying the additional plastic pieces was to add back to where I cut the plastic heads off and maybe a little extra plastic just in case of future repairs. Your idea works too. I'm just wondering what a good glue to use in this case?

Could you, when removing, cut it flat. Then when re-installing, drill a pilot hole in the "stud" and use a wide headed sheet metal screw to re-attach?
I tried to attach the image, but had trouble. Something like this:

That's a good idea too just have to be careful with tightening the screw and make sure not to crack it. If he went that route I would use thin plastic or nylon washers.
