I'd like to see if it works using a batt or charger. I have all the pieces from antenna to speaker.
Run power and ground or am I oversimplifying it?
Any insights or recommendations helpful.

Thanks. I checked it earlier today. Radio Shack keeps one on, so I called em up. Dang if the CB worked too.
CD players are fine in the daily drivers. This is more of a nostalga thing to me.

What kind of car are you putting it in? Keeping it all original would be neat too. I have a Chrysler AM-FM-CB , I am not sure if it works or not, but I think that it is ok. If you need it or want it for parts you can have it, assuming that I can find it.

You will need some type of watt meter to check out the transmit on the CB , but you can tell if it receives by listening. Most of those units that have AM-FM-CB are pretty old and may not be worth your trouble.
True, the cb chassis is not very reliable, and certainly the weak link of the whole radio. But some do indeed work, but you'd better have an antenna or some sort of "load" on the antenna connection

78 Fury. Read up before testing, and GLAD I did. http://www.cbshop.com/cb_know_how.aspDidn't go through all the motions. Still intend to have it serviced, but know what I'm starting with. With all the antenna holes I own for free , I'll purchase a whip, but would like the factory one to be in place, no matter.

I found one in a yard years ago w/the antenna piece having been spliced to accept a bigger (normal size) PL connector, so I used that connector to install a base-load trunkmount antenna, that thing would talk pretty well. The factory ones work pretty well, but I've not tried any of the power-tri-band ones yet.
