Stick with 7, 10 is so much more intrusive by design.
Just like the new hotmail, time to go from that, there AI knows how I write emails, now I type one word and it at times can predict my next 6,7,8 words.
But the funny thing is ive known this forever so my writing style is as I want them to think it is not as I really am.

I am staying with Win7 until the day my laptop explodes or erases all my data. I had Win10 at work, while it was OK, it still sucks compared to Win7... When I read about the impeding demise of Windows 7 coming in Jan 2020, I put in a request and for Christmas last year the kids got me a laptop with Win 10 loaded and everything I've been using. Funny thing is I've never stopped using 7. It is faster and smoother than 10. When I know they are going to be stopping around I have to dust off my 10 unit and put it out for them to see.

I suspect that Gates has solved this apparent unlimited lifetime use of Window OS's, that 7 seems to have. I also suspect MS thought the scare tactic of dropping support for 7 would motivate everyone to go 10, but didn't gauge correctly the inherent dislike for 10. I'm thinking a "Mission Impossible" self destruct tape moment when 10 reaches 10 years old.
Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

And you can still buy new Win7 machines, a buddy just did that recently... That has to be someone's very old stock, I'm needing a new computer, this one is melting down the hard drive. I've been looking, no one I can see is selling anything windows 7 any more, everything is windows 10. I ended up switching to Linux after my hard drive couldn't open windows 7 any more, I'm pretty sure it would never handle windows 10. It looks like the next new computer I buy will have windows 10 (its all that I see you can buy these days), they say you can de-bloat it, but I'm probably just going to set up Linux side by side with windows and just not ever open windows. On this computer I can't just eliminate the windows section, but maybe I will be able to on a new computer. Gene

My wife's cousins husband takes Win10 computers and makes them Win7, any competent computer shop can do that. Some of us old geezers do not want to change, and STAY OFF MY LAWN!

My wife asked for a new computer a couple years ago. I set it up before she saw it, she never noticed it wasn't Windows 7. A few tweaks and one of the alternate start menus, a new start button and it's hard to tell the difference. At work they've now got Windows 10 so she knows what's up now, she got used to it. On the other hand I'm sure it's an Enterprise version so all the nonsense has been left out.

Its more about data gathering/personal info/national security.
Why do people think windows 10 was pushed for free.
Windows 7 is better, your old commodore 64 was best for privacy.
If anyone here thinks the usa is less intrusive the china is at monitoring citizens I got 10,000 acres in the snow filled mountains of Florida for ya.
Your worst enemy is siting right next to you, your router. What did wifi start as, what was it based on?
For convince we give up EVERYTHING. Only god might know more about us then our own gov.
We see in the news, Russia this China that...... An attack was tried on this gov. pc ect...... well its the media feeding the sheep to keep people afraid of the dark.
The most intrusive aspects of our PC is our own people, so much traffic running in the background. Get smart and learn to block it, think smarter then they do. They look for the saps to hack.
I pay for the lowest speed internet by my isp, but im faster then my neighbors who pays for the fastest.
Then you got your isp, allowing a certain amount of your bandwidth to be eaten up because they get paid as well.
Ive ran wifi over six mile on a 2 watt router.
None of this is done for us, the individual, we are just turds in the bowl.
Oh yea.... not alot of sniffing on my pc today..... go figure, those pesky Russians, call the FBI...... NOT....they prob everyone.
How do all these municipalities get nailed for ransomware, because they trust there traffic to go through all the universities servers. Why do people get nailed for ransom ware? Because they are stupid.
They all think dark fiber and the internet 2 is safe, but look it was a flippin 17 year old NERD on Florida that hacked all the big twitter accounts because the twit reps were saps and got suckered. One person asking 3-10 questions is a red flag, one nice person asking a friendly questions, gets a courteous reply. The biggest problem in personal PC security is there are people in the loop.
Oh yea... them dam Russians, it never stops day or night, from russia, china , the kid next door. Most who use encrypted wifi should at least run a secondary router you can program and control.
Your pc and router and internet connection is like the dirty tramp at the bar at 3am and your the last one and she calls you John. You cant protect yourself enough.

Lets not leave out China and the Saudis. But when the NEWS of the GOV. wants to stoke fear or create a narrative its all BS. We get hacked 99% of the time for our ignorance, not because the other guys are good.

shut up 10 quiets Win10 down considerably. Win7 has telemetry baked in as well, just not near as much. FWIW, Microsoft knew how many were pinning what to their taskbar, just an example of what they were watching. If you want an operating system that's not talking to anybody at all, you're looking at a linux flavor. IIRC, Ubuntu has also instituted telemetry. I think Linux Mint hasn't opted in to telemetry, not certain.
