What distributor do you run with the crank trigger? I've got the MSD8546 but I've heard of troubles with the small distributor cap. Any truth to this?

The smaller cap has greater chance to spark jump but
that usually happens in a older worn out cap or dirty
cap

I have been running a factory Mopar distributer with the advance welded for years with my MSD crank trigger. Nothing fancy, but gets the job done.

Factory Mopar Lean Burn Distributor. It's allready fixed, so you dont have to do any welding and the bushings are never worn out. Dan
