3735@110mph says you have around 410fwhp according to my calcs, with 26" tyres you should've been trapping@around 5900rpm. a 28" stiff wall bias slick would bring that down to around 5500 in the traps. I would not go to a radial tyre with a stick. Hope you've got some better parts in that axle than all stock if your really at launching it hard... twocents

Those are all good questions I don't know the answer to. Looking for some advice on which way to go. Wheel wells are stock and wont be cutting them. Springs are also in stock position.

You're right. Its at 6000ish through the lights. Axle is all stock. Wasn't planning on crazy launches till its replaced but way the car is now 1st gear is a burnout unless I tiptoe off the line

iagree
Bolstering the statement made above
If your not or don't want to modify the quarters make sure you have Good wheel studs and Axles...otherwise the tire/wheels may do it for you

Don't fear the radials, install a 'tamer on that clutch and you will be able to get dead-hooking no-bog launches that hit your 8-3/4 softer than an automatic.

It depends on the B body as to what size tire you can fit without cutting anything. 275/60/15's fit on almost all of them if I remember right.

There are fast guys running manual transmissions with radial tires but it requires more suspension tuning, clutch management (including clutch tamers) and fiddling than you may be willing to deal with. Bias ply slicks are more forgiving but if you've never driven a car with them before you need to be aware how they feel while driving, and it also will feel odd if you mismatch radials up front and bias plys in the rear.

If you dump the clutch on your 8 3/4 with slicks, it is going to eventually break. Slip the clutch on launches and you should be okay until you upgrade to a 9" or Dana. I broke pinions, u joints, axle shafts... you name it. You'll even break it with a somewhat sticky radial tire.

Hoosier and M/T do slicks in 26x8 & 26x8.5. You are limited if you don't want to massage the wheel openings.

I would be hesitant to put a radial on it without do any other changes. A stock 8.75 is going to be short lived. Some sort of adjustment is needed in the bellhousing. A bias tire would be a better choice if you don't want to go there. Again, the 8.75 and the driveshaft need some attention or upgrades.

Talk to stick shift stocker guys. Plenty of good Mopar stockers in the midwest.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Moonshine, I run a '69 road runner with 15 x 8" Cragar SS wheels. They have 4.5" back spacing. I had the stock 8 3/4 rear with 4.33 gears for a long time. Mine is an automatic with a good converter. The 275-60-15 M & H Racemasters fit perfectly, and hook up good enough for it to run 11.0's with a 1.60 60' time. They are street legal, and I drive everywhere on them. They are a bias-ply, DOT legal drag tire. We have also run 29.5 x 9.0 x 15" Mickey Thompson bias ply drag slicks. They fit with the same wheels, with plenty of clearance. There is virtually no difference in 60 foot times between these two tires. Definitely look into a rear end upgrade. It you're going to use it to drag race only, go with 4.56 gears when you do.

Thanks Tommy! This is what I'm looking for. My 68 Charger isn't a race car. It's what I could do 24 years ago as an 18 to 21 year old. Just wanna get it back out, have some fun and run a better time than in 1999. Definitely want to upgrade the rear axle. Everything takes time.
