been running an old "high torque" racing starter but it just doesnt cut it anymore (tearing out the drive). i've been looking at either a powermaster or msd. both are priced about the same. what do ya think??? engine is a 446 with 12.5:1 CR, timing is locked.

I've had a Power Master on my 500" for 5 years without any issues. I would recommend them to anyone.

I use the $49 high torque mini starters off Ebay, never a problem.

I took the starter off my V6 Dodge Dakota and put it on a 10.5:1 big block and it starts it just fine.

the mini-starters on the trucks/vans is the same thing as the $120 high torque mini-starter from Mancini and other sources.

believe or not but 440 source mini starters are identical to the jappa mopar mini starter. i bought one as a spare & disected them both. once inside you cant tell the diff, only the outside has a different name tag. ran the source unit this year, hasn't missed a beat. 512 cubes, 12.5 cr.

Chris you are right about that starter. I've had one a couple of years now. I really like the way the solenoid can be easily clocked to keep the wiring away from the headers. Jim
