Anyone rebuild and replace the Chrome bezel on 71 to 74 B Body auto shifter I see the repro bezels but the original looks like it is riveted on? The replacement looks like it has screws.

I just rebuild the unit in my 71 e body. Took it completely down, including the shifter mechanism, and re-viveted everything back to one piece. I was able to polish the plastic back to useable, but replaced the chrome trim with the screen on piece. You have to grind out the rivets to get the original off. The screws go through the same holes on the baseplate. Very easy to do.

When I originally had the chrome shifter plates reproduced thru PG Classic, I had them made so the average person could install them. The originals had pot metal studs on the plate schwedged down to the metal plate so there's no other way to mount a re-chromed plate other than epoxy or small screws like the reproductions to remount it.
