mine (416 sixpack) with the 50 cc pump and brown cam would momentarily drop into the 11's than then come back out to mid to low mid 12's.

I went to the drag strip today and on my second run i had a little bog so i changed the cam out to the clear one. Unfortunately, the lm1 kept disconnecting during the run so I can say i have any good data from the track today

Mine was 14.1 at the hit with the old fuel pump and leaned out to 15.3 at the end of the run. I switch pumps and the LM1 read 11.9 to 12.3 the whole run, which was slower than the lean runs That is using a 30 cc pump on the center carb. only and 32 squirter I am getting ready to do some more tuning on both sets of carbs as soon as I get the LM1(with the LC1 upgrade) back in the car The power cord broke the red wire solder connection going into the box

lean engines actually produce more overall power. you may have been flooding the engine and not getting a good burn when you were down in the 10s and 11s on your afr. i wouldn't run much lower than 12.5-12.7 to get the best peak power. also if your dipping down then you need to change your cam to one with a longer pump shot.

also if you switched pump your pump maybe overcoming your floats and dumping fuel into the carb. if not then you were set really rich to comp for the lack of fuel flow from the first pump. the carb works on a venturi and if the level of gas in the bowl is higher more will go through the jet and into the engine.

Granted I run a trans brake but I see the dip as
soon as I hit the pedal and it quickly goes to the
level it should but it always gets the dip(this is
from when its idling to WOT)... its just the pump shot

Dips to about 11.9-12.3 range and then climbs up to 12.8-13.1 at the stripe.

No I went to 11.6 most every time, sounds like your
squirters are too big

Squirters may be the right size, but you may need to play with the CAM or the position (#1 or #2) of the pump cam.

I played a bunch with mine, to get a good duration shot that wasn't too much / too little using the LM-1 as the "eyes" to see what was happening. Only takes a little time in a parking lot or at the track.

I actually found that the cam / cam position was worth the most change. I found that the actual squirter size was a fine tuning measure.

First off, what rpm are you leaving at? When looking at the graph,is it rich while your holding it before stomping the pedal or after you leave? I have gone all the way down to 25 squirters and it doesnt help.I think its the cam.I leave at idle and mine goes into the 9's for a short time then to 12.8 I think it was Tig on here that ground some off the cams to help in this situation.

it dips into the 10 when i mash the pedal. i have been testing in DaScreet.

a smaller shooter will change the duration of the pump shot but not lessin it.

you want a smaller cam that will lengthen the duraction. also i would try smaller nozzles once the cam is changed. you'll be surprized how much better it will drive without that puff of black smoke out the back everytime you tap the pedal.

I don`t have lm-1 but went to 37 squirter from 32 and my butt dyno noticed a world of difference,I had played with cam sizes and springs but the 37 adjustment made a world of difference.Motor was stock stroke with 320x590 isky cam shaft.Car went from mundane to downright scary out of the hole.I think you are using different manifold than stock too which I have factory edelbrock. If your using wiend or sheet metal manifold I think I saw you post a picture of I am sure your wayyy beyond what I have.I hadn`t found this website when I stumbled upon the squirter difference, magazines wouldn`t tell a whole lot back then either.I did this in early 90`s.With my cam I had to do something to help it out from idle and i had no idea what cam it had cause when I bought car thats what it had and previous owner didn`t know specs.I like your car too, hope this helps....

Jerry, that is the direction i'm heading. wanted to test tonight but its super windy and tornado warnings no puff of black smoke now but it do that last year with way to much pump. i have been taking pump out of it and its at 10 now, it must have been like a 5 last year
